call for Abstracts

Conference Theme

Under the theme of the 2020 ICSC - Food Security & Safety – Globally, the congress will address how the very multidisciplinary nature of 21st century crop research is critical to the development of unique, sustainable, agricultural systems having the capacity to support animal and human health, on a global scale, while being mindful of our custodial responsibilities towards the health of our planet Earth. Crop research presented at this congress will span from fundamental to field-based work and will also address recent advances in translating fundamental research discoveries to crop improvement in the field.

Submitting an Abstract

Abstract submissions are all on-line, through the abstract portal (ABSTRACT PORTAL)

  • Submissions open: October 1, 2019
  • Submissions to be considered for oral presentations close: April 15, 2020
  • Submissions for poster presentations close: May 15, 2020


All abstracts must be written in English.


All authors are to be identified as part of the abstract submission. For each author please provide:

  • Given and Family name
  • City and Country
  • Institutional Affiliation (Organization, University, Government Ministry, Company etc.)
  • Email address

There is no limit on the number of authors on an abstract.

Designated Presenter

Please identify which of the authors will be presenting the abstract should it be accepted. All abstracts (oral or poster) are limited to one presenter per abstract.


Each abstract submitted will be required to select which sub-theme most closely matches their abstract.

Presentation Type

There are three presentation types offered: oral, poster, and e-poster. Abstract submitters will have to choose which presentation type they wish to participate in. Oral presentations are limited and will be selected by the reviewers. All those selected to be an oral presenter must also present a poster.

Oral Presentations

Oral presentations can be on any topic relevant to the congress themes. Those requesting an oral presentation will also be asked if they would be willing to accept a poster presentation should the reviewing board not be able to offer them an oral. Oral abstracts should be 300 words or less, not including authors or title. Length of oral presentation will be confirmed once abstracts have been selected.

Poster Presentations

Posters may be on any topic relevant to the congress themes. Poster abstracts should be 300 words or less not including authors or title.
