Research Interests

Dr. Hammer’s research program is focused on: (i) understanding and predicting crop growth and development; (ii) physiological basis and modelling of genetic variation in adaptive traits in field crops; (iii) using physiological models to enhance molecular breeding in field crops; (iv) integration of genetic and management manipulation in crop improvement in variable climates; (v) using models to explore effects of climate risks on agricultural systems; (vi) regional scale crop forecasting; and (vii) research and development policy and planning.
