Shawn Kaeppler is a Professor in the Department of Agronomy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Director of the Wisconsin Crop Innovation Center, and President-elect of the Crop Science Society of America (President-2020). He served as editor fo the journal Crop Science. His research is in the area of crop genomics, crop genetics, and plant breeding. Primary accomplishments of his research team include characterizing epigenetic mechanisms in crops, understanding the role of roots in abiotic stress tolerance and nutrient efficiency, identifying traits and genes important in maize kernel development, and advancing plant breeding methodology to identify new maize inbreds, hybrids, and useful germplasm.
